Employers' Liability Insurance

Employers' Liability Insurance covers you against any claims if one of your employees or apprentices gets ill or injured as a result of the work they do for you.

You can add up to £10 million of Employers' Liability cover to your Public Liability policy as an optional extra for an additional premium. 

As an employer, your main priority is the health and safety of your employees. It's a legal requirement under the Employers' Liability Act 1969 to take out Employers' Liability Insurance if you have one or more members of staff or apprentices working for your business. Employers' Liability Insurance must cover you for at least £5 million.

If you don't take out the correct insurance, you can be at risk of the following fines: 

• £2500 for each day you go without Employers' Liability Insurance
• £1000 if you fail to or refuse to present an EL certificate when requested by an inspector

We also offer liability cover for temporary employees and sub-contractors hired by your business.

You can also add personal accident cover for named people working in the business as an optional extra to your Public Liability policy.
